Sustainability

The UN World Tourism Organization defines sustainable tourism as “tourism that takes full account of its current and future economic, social and environmental impacts, addressing the needs of visitors, the industry, the environment and host communities”.

There are three key pillars which contribute to sustainability:
• Economic
• Enviromental
• Social

Economic:
We use local suppliers, producers and manufacturers where possible. We participate in activities by the local community (voluntary cleaning of the beach, administrative help to NGOs )
Our business staff is from the area and we try to any local, independent contractors who can do the work for you. All of the construction was implemented by local craftsmen.
We use locally sourced food for your guest welcome basket and we encourage you to meet local producers. Please ask additional info!

Environmental:
From the beginning of the construction we used bioclimatical aspects in the designing of the houses. The building insulation for thermal insulation was carried out according to the respective highest international standards. We have installed energy-efficient lighting and appliances and we use solar panels to the property. We use last generation heat pumps and air conditioning systems with a very high degree of energy efficiency.
We always use environmentally friendly cleaning products. We use environmentally friendly, recyclable packaging material for our daily deliveries to avoid and reduce waste We therefore also avoid plastic packaging at your breakfast and evening buffet. We avoid the use of plastic and especially plastic packaging.
We use environmentally friendly, recyclable packaging material for our daily deliveries to avoid and reduce waste. We cover a large part of our needs in fruit, vegetables and olive oil from our own cultivation. Otherwise we buy exclusively from farmers in the region.

Social:
We can provide you with information regarding local producers and manufacturers in order to show you what is unique to our area.
We promote environmental awareness among our employees and encourage them to work in an environmentally responsible manner with a firm commitment to train, educate and inform our employees about environmental issues that may affect their work.
We participate in the recycling programme held and supported by the cultural society of the village of Pagoi. Encourage and reward our supply base for working with us to implement changes in their operating procedures that will improve environmental and sustainability initiatives. As a business we integrate the consideration of environmental concerns and impacts into all of our decision making activities.

We are happy to support and actively participate in community programmes.

Our property is certified with the Green Key license and we are a bike friendly accommodation.
